50.

Today is my father's 50th Birthday!! We're celebrating at his favorite place, the cottage. I baked him a confetti angel food cake, which also happens to be his favorite of course. And easy, just add water. Anyways, in honor of my father I thought I would make a little collage of some of his favorite things that remind me of him. Here's the list: Native American history, Lexus cars, Fried Green Tomatoes, Farming - My father was always a farmer, so naturally that's where I also grew up, but anyone who knows him can tell he's still a farmer at heart, always and forever, vintage road bikes and new - he got me hooked!, Kayaking (we have orange ones also), Berres Brothers Coffee (we have to order this and it is essential in the morning before anyone can really function), Skittles, Cheese Curds, Sausage Sticks (German heritage anyone?), Sterling Pinot Noir (his favorite wine), World War II history, Bolle sunglasses, Plaid Chaps shirts that he happens to wear on a daily basis (he has branched out to colored t-shirts now that we are more recreational), Lawn Mowing-honestly if there was a contest for Best Cut and Cared for Lawn...I would enter him, Dances with Wolves, Fleetwood Mac, Heart, and of course his favorite flower- tulips. There are so many more things I can think of, but maybe you should just meet him instead - he's kind of a really great guy.

P.S. I forgot to add the movie Giant. It's like 3 and a half hours long, but he will make you watch it if he can. If you can work yourself up to seeing it knowing the length it's a really good movie and a total classic. It stars Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson and James Dean not to mention that Dennis Hopper is Rock Hudson's (Jordan Benedict's) son in the movie. Made in 1956 and still has top ratings.

Sweet Dreams.

While up north there could be the chance that I would need to 'rough it', you know, like in the woods, amongst nature, fending for myself. If that were the case, I think these are some possible sleeping arrangements that just might cut it for that sort of thing. Which do you think looks the best?

Home away from home.

Leaving for my family cottage today! I'll be there for about a week and half and can't wait. Good company, good food, and a crystal clear lake right in our backyard. It's been awhile since I've gone kayaking and I am really looking forward to going early in the morning and enjoying the lake while it's still quiet. Hopefully the neighbors aren't up ;) If ever in Wisconsin during the summer months make sure to spend a few days at one of our many lakes, you won't regret it.

Woah.

I must learn how to do this. So beautiful.

Akasha Rabut.

I can't see you...

A Good Read.

I've been reading this on and off for the last month and it is definitely worth picking up. It goes through the lives of each of the original members of the Bauhaus, their art, childhoods, love lives, families, how they were chosen by Walter Gropius to be a part of the Bauhaus and the struggles within the school. It's not exactly a short read, but totally worth it.

Free People.

August 2010 Free People catalog. I think I would finally submit to a camel ride if it looked anything like this.

Leah Duncan.

love this work.

Hello.

To the beginning! This blog will include my daily inspirations as a sort of online moodboard. Some of the many things that inspire me are other artist's work, design, printmaking, photography, sculpture- you name it, textiles, textures, and the daily wonders that the world surprises us with. If you're into that sort of thing, enjoy.
